1. Cinderella (Simple English Story)

Once upon a time, there was a kind girl named Cinderella. She lived with her stepmother and two stepsisters. Her father had died, and her stepmother was very mean to her. Every day, Cinderella cleaned the house, washed the dishes, and cooked food. Her stepmother and stepsisters never helped her.

Cinderella loved animals. She had little birds and mice as her friends. They helped her when she was sad.

One day, the king’s son, the prince, invited all the girls in the kingdom to a big party at the palace. The prince wanted to choose a wife. Cinderella was very excited. She wanted to go, but her stepmother said, “You cannot go! You have to stay and clean.”

Her stepsisters wore beautiful dresses and went to the party, but Cinderella stayed home and cried. Suddenly, a fairy godmother appeared. “Why are you crying, dear child?” she asked. Cinderella told her everything. The fairy godmother smiled and said, “Don’t worry. You will go to the party.”

The fairy godmother waved her magic wand. She turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage. She turned mice into horses and a rat into a coachman. Then, she made Cinderella’s old dress into a beautiful gown. On her feet, she wore glass slippers.

But the fairy godmother said, “Remember, my magic will end at midnight. You must leave the palace before twelve o’clock.”

Cinderella went to the party. Everyone looked at her because she was so beautiful. The prince danced only with her.

When the clock started to ring midnight, Cinderella ran away. She left one glass slipper on the stairs.

The next day, the prince searched for the girl. He took the glass slipper and said, “I will marry the girl who can wear this shoe.”

He went to every house. The stepsisters tried the shoe, but it was too small. Finally, he came to Cinderella’s house. Her stepmother did not want her to try, but Cinderella put on the shoe, and it fit perfectly!

The prince married Cinderella. They lived happily ever after.

2. Little Red Riding Hood (Simple English Story)

Once upon a time, there was a little girl called Little Red Riding Hood. She wore a red cloak, so everyone called her by that name.

One day, her mother said, “Please take this basket of food to Grandma. She is sick.” Little Red Riding Hood said, “Okay, Mommy.”

Her mother said, “Don’t talk to strangers, and stay on the path.”

Little Red Riding Hood walked through the forest. On the way, a big bad wolf saw her. He wanted to eat her but smiled and asked, “Where are you going, little girl?”

She said, “I’m going to see my grandma. She is sick.”

The wolf thought, “I will eat the grandmother first and then the girl.”

He ran fast to Grandma’s house. He knocked on the door. “Who is it?” asked Grandma.

“It’s me, Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf in a soft voice.

Grandma said, “Come in.” The wolf jumped in and swallowed Grandma whole! Then he put on Grandma’s clothes and lay in her bed.

Little Red Riding Hood arrived and saw her “grandmother.” She said, “Grandma, what big eyes you have!”

The wolf said, “All the better to see you with.”

“Grandma, what big ears you have!”

“All the better to hear you with.”

“Grandma, what big teeth you have!”

“All the better to eat you with!” said the wolf, and he jumped out of bed.

Little Red Riding Hood screamed. A woodcutter nearby heard her. He ran in and hit the wolf. The wolf opened his mouth and out came Grandma!

When Jack got home, his mother was angry. “You sold the cow for beans?!” She threw the beans out of the window.

The next morning, Jack saw a huge beanstalk growing up to the sky!

Jack climbed the beanstalk. At the top, he found a castle. Inside the castle, lived a giant. Jack saw a hen that laid golden eggs and a magic harp that played music.

Jack took the hen and harp. But the giant woke up and shouted, “Fee-fi-fo-fum! I smell the blood of an Englishman!”

One day, a big bad wolf came. He went to the first pig’s house. “Little pig, let me in!” he said.

“Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!” said the pig.

“Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” And he did.

The first pig ran to his brother’s house of sticks.

The wolf came and said, “Little pigs, let me in!”

“Not by the hair of our chinny chin chin!”

“Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” And he did.

The pigs ran to the third pig’s house of bricks.

The wolf came and said, “Little pigs, let me in!”

“Not by the hair of our chinny chin chin!”

“Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” But he couldn’t. The house was too strong.

The three pigs lived happily ever after in the brick house.

5. Goldilocks and the Three Bears (Simple English Story)

On the table, there were three bowls of porridge. She tasted the first one. “Too hot!” she said. The second one, “Too cold!” The third one, “Just right!” and she ate it all.

She saw three chairs. She sat on the first. “Too big!” The second, “Too small!” The third, “Just right!” But it broke.

She went upstairs and saw three beds. First bed, “Too hard.” Second, “Too soft.” Third, “Just right,” and she fell asleep.

Soon, the three bears came home. “Someone ate my porridge!” said Papa Bear. “Someone ate mine too!” said Mama Bear. “Someone ate all of mine!” said Baby Bear.

“Someone sat in my chair!” said Papa Bear. “Someone sat in mine!” said Mama Bear. “Someone broke mine!” said Baby Bear.

SIMPLE ENGLISH STORY: THE FARMER and HIS SONS

Once upon a time, a farmer had five strong and hardworking sons. They were good but always fought and argued with each other. Their father wanted them to stop fighting and live in peace. He tried to talk to them and educate them many times, but it didn’t work.

One day, the farmer had an idea. He gathered his sons and showed them a bundle of sticks. He said, “I want any of you to break these sticks without separating them.”

Each son tried, but none could break the sticks while they were bundled. Then the farmer separated the sticks and gave one to each son. They easily broke the single sticks.

The farmer explained, “Just like these sticks, you are strong when you are together, united. But if you fight and divide, you become weak, like a single stick. Unity makes you strong, and division makes you weak.”

The sons understood the lesson and decided to live in peace, knowing that they were stronger together.
