How Many Countries in the World?

There are many countries in the world. Because maps and country systems are political, there’s no one right answer. So it will depend on your views and where you are from.

This list of countries and capitals includes all 193 members of the United Nations, the two UN observers (Palestine and Vatican City) and Kosovo, making 196 countries and their respective capitals.
